MY CHILDHOOD I was lucky enough to grow up in the country in the 70s and 80s when as kids we went out in the morning and were told to be back by teatime. I grew up on chopper bikes, homemade Go - Karts, playing in the park, woods, sandpits, swamps, annoying farmers and their animals, taking neighbours dogs for walks, and generally having adventures. I remember watching the A Team, Wonderwoman, The littlest hobo and Lassie, all were action packed and about having adventures. I was a true tomboy as a child and probably still am. I remember watching the boys up the park on their Raleigh BMX's, they even built their own track which I would ride around on my chopper. Every birthday and Christmas for years I would ask for a BMX but always ended up with a doll or something girlie which got played with for a day then planted in the garden - My Poor Parents!! I could spit the furthest, swing the highest and hold onto the Rockweiller we used to take for a walk the longest. Once it pulled my across the road on my back but I wouldn't let go. I've always been determined and stubborn and will never give up. |

MOTORBIKES
I didn't get into Motorbikes until I was 26. Before this I'd been into a few different sports: Marathon running in my early 20s at an elite level, Downhill Mountain Biking at an International level and Snowboarding which I just loved. I loved it so much I took a year off and worked in France for a season for the Burton Demo Co, Chalet Snowboard as an off piste guide. Just after I'd competed at the World Cup Downhill mountain bike race at Fort William, Scotland I had my downhill bike stolen. It wasn't insured and it was worth a hell of a lot of money and I couldn't afford to replace it.
A few months after, some good friends of mine, Anthony Brown, Phil Nobes and GEOFF CAIN! persuaded me to buy a motorbike. I was reluctant at first but they took me to look at a Honda MTX 125, still reluctant I took it for a test ride. I loved it and we spent many long summer days trailriding up to Barbury Castle Cafe near Swindon and back. I was rubbish but the guys were really patient and picked me out of many bogs, ruts and ditches. What really got me hooked though was a trailride we did in South Wales with the Caerphilly club, when you were still allowed to Green Lane. After riding through rivers and up and down tricky steep mountains I was WELL AND TRULY HOOKED and have never looked back.
